Coffman Introduces Bills Honoring CO-06 Fallen Officers
Bills Rename Local Post Offices in Their Honor
Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Mike Coffman (R-CO) introduced legislation that would rename two U.S. Post Office facilities in the 6th Congressional district after two local law enforcement officers recently killed in the line of duty.
H.R. 5791 would recognize the U.S. Postal Service facility located at 9609, South University Boulevard in Highlands Ranch, Colorado, as the “Deputy Sheriff Zackari Spurlock Parrish, III, Post Office”, and H.R. 5792, would recognize the U.S. Postal Service facility located at 90 North 4th Avenue in Brighton, Colorado, as the “Deputy Sheriff Heath McDonald Gumm Post Office.”
“Officers Parrish and Gumm exemplified the commitment to public service and gave up their lives in the pursuit of keeping our community safe. We are forever indebted to them and their families for their sacrifice.” Said Coffman.
Officer Parrish of the Douglas County Sheriff Office was killed on December 31st, 2017 as he responded to a domestic disturbance call in Highlands Ranch, while Officer Gumm of the Adams County Sheriff’s Office was killed during a foot pursuit in Thornton on January 24, 2018.
“National Police Week is a reminder of the thousands of brave law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in protecting their communities. I am honored to be able to remember their service with this small token of appreciation.”
National Police Week is observed this year from May 14 through May 19. The bills will now make their way to the Congressional committees for consideration. See bills HERE.###
