Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Representative Mike Coffman (R-CO) released the following statement after the White House announced new tariffs on steel (25%) and aluminum (10%) imports:

“No doubt, the United States must insist on fair trade and the place to file a complaint against unfair trading practices is at the World Trade Organization before taking this step.  These tariffs run counter to the progress we have made to raise wages and to create more jobs. Undoubtedly, the resulting higher steel and aluminum prices are clearly nothing more than a tax on the American people.”

Representative Coffman was one of 107 Members who recently sent a letter to President Trump urging him to reconsider his position on levying tariffs. View letter HERE.
