Today, Congressman Mike Coffman (R-CO) released the following statement after voting against the budget agreement reached between House and Senate Budget Committee Chairmen Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Patty Murray (D-WA):

“First of all, I’m relieved that this agreement could avert another partial shutdown but I’m deeply disappointed that it breaks the budget caps on defense spending without any real effort at reforming how the Pentagon operates.  I will continue to work hard to reform the Pentagon but I believe that by passing this budget agreement we will lose a lot of the leverage necessary to get the job  done,” said Coffman, a Marine Corps combat veteran.
