Coffman Renews Call for Independent Investigation
U.S. Representative Mike Coffman (R-CO) is renewing his call for an independent investigation into allegations of collusion between Russia and the Trump presidential campaign. Last month, in an interview with Chuck Todd, Coffman bemoaned the politicization of the House Intelligence Committee in regards to the Russian investigation, saying "it may be time for an independent counsel."
In January, Coffman was one of the first Members of Congress to call on President Trump to fire then-National Security Advisor Michael Flynn after he misled the Administration regarding his contacts with the Russians.
"The American people deserve the truth about any involvement Russia may have had in our elections, and they need to be able to trust the investigation and to trust its conclusion," said Coffman. "Let's get this divisive issue out of the way so that Congress and the Administration can focus on fixing our health care system, reforming our tax code, and repairing our crumbling infrastructure."
