U.S. Representative Mike Coffman (R-Aurora) was presented on Wednesday with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s “Spirit of Enterprise” Award. The award recognizes Rep. Coffman’s work supporting the U.S. Chamber’s agenda for economic policies that encourage private investment, economic growth, and job creation.
“I am honored to be recognized by the U.S. Chamber for fighting to promote pro-growth policies that help our nation’s businesses create jobs,” said Coffman. “As a former small business owner myself, I know firsthand the challenges that that these employers face.”
The U.S. Chamber is the world’s largest business federation representing more than three million businesses and organizations of all size, sector, and region.
“2013 was challenging, but Congressman Coffman worked to pass legislation and enact policies that will keep our country moving forward economically,” U.S. Chamber President and CEO Thomas J. Donohue said. “The Spirit of Enterprise Award recognizes legislators like Congressman Coffman who have demonstrated their commitment to supporting pro-growth policies in the 113th Congress.”
The Chamber awards the “Spirit of Enterprise” based on rankings it gives members of Congress for “key votes” during each session of Congress. During the first session of the 113th Congress, the Chamber scored 12 House votes as “key votes,” including votes to repeal onerous Obamacare provisions, improve the process by which regulations are promulgated, and ease approval of the Keystone XL pipeline.
