U.S. Representative Mike Coffman (CO-06), Chairman of the House Armed Services Military Personall Subcommittee, made the following statement after the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) released its report ' Evaluation of the Veterans Health Administration Veterans Crisis Line' exposing continued failures:

“As a Marine Corps combat veteran, the notions of having veterans reach out for help in hopes of seeking the care they deserve, and not being able to get through because of bureaucratic incompetence is unconscionable. What is even more alarming is that the VA has not implemented the recommendations issued by the OIG in 2016 which sought to resolve problems with the Veterans crisis line. I call on Secretary Shulkin to immediately take the necessary corrective actions so that our most vulnerable veterans are not lost.”
