U.S. Representative Mike Coffman offered the following statement in response to Speakers Ryan withdraw of the American Health Care Act: "Real people are suffering because the Affordable Care Act is not working. Republicans promised to repeal and replace Obamacare. There are legitimate differences of opinion in our Conference about how we accomplish that, but we need to bridge them and get this job done. The House is one step in the process, and the Speaker's framework is the beginning of a solu... Read more

HB94-1210 provided what is called “guaranteed issue”, meaning that insurance carriers had to cover those with preexisting conditions and could not rate anyone differently based on their health status. Today, U.S. Representatives Mike Coffman (R-CO) and Derek Kilmer (D-WA) led the bipartisan reintroduction of the Veteran Urgent Access to Mental HealthCare Act (H.R. 918). Column by U.S. Rep. Mike Coffman Two weeks into 2017, it is clearer than ever that xing our nation’s health care system will require a full repeal of President Obama’s Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare. This law has failed Coloradans — it hasn’t made health care affordable or accessible. Our colleagues on the other side of the aisle like to highlight the number of uninsured Americans to measure the success of the ACA, but there is a big difference between people having health i... U.S. Representative Mike Coffman (CO-06) today lauded the final passage of the 21st Century Cures Act noting that the legislation added language to advance regenerative medicine, better known as stem cell research, taken from a bill previously introduced by Coffman. Advances in stem cell research have the potential of revolutionizing medicine by taking a patient’s own stem cells, harvesting those cells, and injecting them back into the patient in order to regrow tissue or organs. In March, Coffm... Read more

One of the best attempts to improve America’s mental health crisis in decades will stall if the U.S. Senate does not get its act together before it goes on another month-long break. Freshly back from vacation, senators should pass Rep. Tim Murphy’s Helping Families in Mental Health Crisis Act. Murphy, a Republican from Pennsylvania and a clinical psychologist, has seen firsthand the challenges that people with mental health disorders face.
