Coffman on Joint Session of Congress
Washington, D.C. – U.S. Representative Mike Coffman (R-CO) offered the following statement in preview of the President's Address to a joint session of Congress this evening:
“As the President readies to address a joint session of Congress this evening, I would encourage him to couple his call for tougher border enforcement with sensible immigration reform efforts. An excellent vehicle to couple these two which has been presented in both House and Senate earlier this year is the Bridge Act. This bill is not only a step in the right direction towards addressing the immigration problem in this nation, but also one that would enable us to grow our economy, provide certainty to those who are vulnerable and most importantly keep families together—the reality is that this President could help make immigration reform a reality”
Coffman led the House effort in the introduction of the Bridge Act earlier this year. The legislation has bipartisan and bicameral support. More information on this legislation can be found here.
