My goal, as the Military Personal Subcommittee chairman for the House Armed Services Committee, is to make sure that we have the best led, best equipped, and trained military in the world and that we take care of our service members and their families. History shows us that by maintaining a strong defense posture that we can deter those who would wish to do us harm. History teaches us that weakness invites aggression. However, I continually challenge the Pentagon on ways that it can reduce cost without compromising national security.
As a member of the House Veterans Committee and as a Marine Corps combat veteran, I work hard to make sure that we honor our veterans by making sure that we meet our nation’s obligations to take care of the men and women, who have made tremendous sacrifices in defense of our freedom, long after they come home.
